Want to use social media for your video business?
– Hi, my name is Richard Harrington, and in this course, we’re going to explore how social media, affects video professionals. Now, obviously, social media is a big impact on the world today. But a lot of folks get confused about social media. In my opinion, they often focus on the wrong things.
Experienced folks know that most problems can be solved by asking pretty simple questions. The who, where, what, when, and whys of the world, and of course the hows. But when it comes to this course, we’re not going to tackle all of these. The who’s pretty obvious. Chances are we’re talking about you or your company, and we’re not going to spend a lot of time on the how. How social media is pretty simple. In this day and age, just about every one of you, has made a post to a platform, whether that’s uploading a video to YouTube or posting to Facebook.
What’s far trickier are the other questions. When should you be posting? What should you be posting? Where should you be posting? These are the questions that people struggle with. It’s not about how much work you put into social media. It’s about getting results for your company, and what it is that you’re working on, in a particular project. So in this course, we’re going to tackle several different areas, and I recommend that you watch the course in a linear fashion.
We’ll get a good working definition of social media out of the way, so you understand how I view this platform, and what I think is important for you to pay attention to. Then we’ll take a look at the status of the internet. In this case, we’ll explore what’s happening online with popular trends, so you understand how environmental factors, could impact the way that you approach, your use of social media.
We’ll then talk about how to be a little bit more enlightened. A lot of folks focus on the wrong areas. Worrying about likes and popularity, as opposed to the actual end results, and creating a more meaningful connection with clients and vendors, as well as anybody that you consider a partner or an industry friend. will then share with you some practical posting strategies, so you could take advantage of getting more results, from the content that you’re sharing. We’ll also talk about monitoring your identity. Whether that’s you as an individual or your company, so you can track the results and see what’s happening. Lastly, we’ll take a look at some practical advice, for specific platforms. Some do’s and don’ts, for the tools that you might be using, in your social media adventures.
My name is Rich Harrington, and I’m a visual storyteller, that really focuses on the aspects, of both photography and video. And in the world of social media, I’ve been involved for a very long time. You might know me from your bookshelf, I’ve written about 40 books, for the video and photography industry, and have authored more than 200 classes. I currently publish two websites, and I’ve been publishing on the internet since 1995. When it came to putting videos online, I’ve been doing this now for more than 25 years. So quite a bit of history, of getting content out there for people to consume. I also own my own creative business, and regularly work as both a photographer and a director Now, my approach tends to be a little bit more methodical.
That’s because I’m a certified project management professional. Now, you might be thinking as a creative professional, that sounds a little stuffy. But here’s the deal. I went to school to master the business side, so that I could be more creative, and that as a creative professional, I wouldn’t be taken advantage of in the world of business, and I could be more effective at my job. Being organized actually helps you out, and we going to apply this approach to social media. So we get results while still seeing, organic and natural relationships form. If you’d like to get in touch, I invite you to reach out to the Linkedin platform, and I’m easy to find there. I’m happy to connect with other industry professionals. All right, with this in mind, let’s jump in and begin.
